What Symptoms To Look For After Head Injury?
Question: My grandson threw a small car and it hit me at the thicker side of the eyebrow. There was a dent immediately apparent. I didn't lose consciousness but it certainly made me "see starts". It's been almost a week and although there is no bruise it still hurts to touch it. That entire side of my face hurts. I know it didn't give me a concussion because it's been so long. A had an other type of injury, where I walked into a cabinet and it left a dent in my forehead, just below the hairline. What is going on? Do i just have some kind of soft skull?
Brief Answer:
No reason to worry about.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Dents you describe are formed by compression at one point of soft tissues that surround the skull (galea, periosteum).
In rare cases dents are formed by minimal compression fractures of outer layer of the skull bone ( diploe ).
It doesn't mean that you have a soft skull.
In both cases, since there are no symptoms of concussion or other brain injury symptoms such vomiting, difficulty interacting etc. you have nothing to worry about.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
