Brief Answer:
Preferably less than 2 lit/minute.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your direct question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.

Answer to your 1st question.

Yes, 1 lit/min is ok. If she is fine with 1 lit/min then no need to increase oxygen. More oxygen can be harmful and hence should be avoided.

Answer to your 2nd question.

Oxygen can be taken life-long.

Answer to your 3rd question.

There is term called LTOT (long term oxygen therapy). LTOT can be given upto 17 hours a day, specially a night. Patient can keep oxygen force whole night. This will be more beneficial.
So continue daily oxygen at night.

Answer to your 4rth question.

Deep breathing exercises, incentive spirometry, yoga, pranayam etc strengthen respiratory muscles. Yoga and pranayam are XXXXXXX traditional therapy.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing her good health. Thanks.

Thank you Dr. for the prompt and clear reply to my questions.
As my knowledge is limited I could not understand why oxygen more than 1 LPM could be harmful. I thought more oxygen is better. Some family friends told me that they are being administered 2/3 LPM.I presume that the condition of their lungs is better than that of my wife.
Pasting of pdf of 4 test reports ( PFTest,Arterial Blood Gas, XRay Chest PAView and 2D Echo Cardiography ) mentioned in my note was not accepted by the system.
Subsequently I found that there was a link to upload the reports. I have uploaded all the 4 reports but am not sure whether you recd. the same because on opening My Dash Board I find " No reports attached" I have informed the customer care of HCM but have yet to get their reply. If I get your email ID ,I would send them as attachments through email to you.

Brief Answer:
More oxygen can supress respiratory drive in COPD patients.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
COPD patients are habitual for low Spo2 (88-90).
Their respiratory center is active at this low Spo2 only.
So when Spo2 is more than 90-92%, respiratory center can not receive signals and hence respiratory drive is abolished. So high oxygen can cause suppression of respiratory drive and stoppage of respiration in COPD patients.
And this is the reason why COPD patient should not be given more than 2 lit/min in LTOT.
And sorry to say but I can't give you my email address directly. You have to ask for my email id to Healthcare Magic team.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your wife. Thanks.

I have gone through the reports you have attached.
Her ABG report is showing Spo2 95%.
So no need to give more oxygen. Don't give more than 2 lit /min of oxygen.
She is having mild PAH (Pulmonary hypertension).
LTOT will be help in halting progression of PAH.

Thank you Dr. for patiently going through the attached reports and for the advice that the we should not exceed 2LPM and also to continue LTOT.
Incidentally, I noticed that the second page of the PFTest was not scanned while sending the attachment. It has the Dr.'s comment "severe obstruction". Hopefully following your advice would take care of it.
My wife, though weak , is keen to resume cooking but we are apprehensive that it might not be conducive for her faster recovery and so she should be away from the gas oven etc. Would be thankful for your advice in this matter.
