What Does White String Like Stuff In Urine Indicate?

Question: Back on March 20th I went to urinate at work, this long white mucus came out with my urine. It did not hurt and it was about 3 1/2 inches long. I freaked out and got into a doctor's office same day. Had a full urine test with STD check, which everything came back negatived. Also the doctor felt around for any problems in and around my private area. Everything was normal. The night before I did heavy drinking of beer and liquor, I do not know if that contributed to that. The past three months I have been under a lot of stress and depression. I was also sexual active. I used to drink Monster Energy drinks every day, but I cut back only to water, ice tea, and once in a while a soda. That incident back on March 20th was the only time I saw a lot come out. Four days later I saw a little bit of the same stuff discharge. That was the last time I saw it. Both times were in the morning. With the stress (a close friend dying, new job, relationship issues, Combat Veteran, and house buying) my right testicle would hurt, but if I got my mind off of things it wouldn't hurt. During my urine test I notice one stringy floater and I showed my doctor when I passed it off to him. He said I shouldn't be concerned. Once things settled down I felt great again with no pain and life is moving on. The only concerns I have left is that every now and again my first urination of the day I notice little burring itchy feeling after I go. Location is just from the tip about an inch down, rest of my penis doesn't hurt. It subsides after 2-3 minutes. I am very sexually motivated and I do wake up to an erection every morning. Second is that I also still notice the one little stringy floater in my urine throughout the day. Just curious to what these symptoms might be. No back pain, no problems ejaculating, no discharge, and rest of the day I urinate just fine (Light yellow and clear). I do fight IBS time to time and has mucus like stuff around my stool time to time. I don't feel sick and I have been getting plenty of sleep and water compared to month or two ago. I cut back drinking alcohol. My new job I sit down a lot, but I try to move around in my eight hours. That is the only time I notice discomfort at work down there. I am so sorry to hear about this white string like stuff that you have reported in your urine. I understand the stress and anxiety that can be caused by this. No one would sit and pretend not to be bothered by this and as such your fears, worries and concerns are totally understandable. With no symptoms and repeated testing that shows nothing abnormal with your urine, there is no need to get too worried. I have a high suspicion that this is nothing more than deposits that form as urine collects in the bladder. This is why it is more likely to occur during the early hours of the morning as urine has had enough time to stagnate and form deposits at the bottom over night. I will suggest that you make it a habit to drink a minimum of 2liters of water per day and monitor closely to see if the intensity and frequency of this would not reduce significantly. I understand how difficult it is to deal with so much at a time. However, letting yourself get depressed will not be a solution to this. You have every reason to stay positive and motivated as well as talking yourself out of this so that you can stay strong to face the challenges and help your dying friend. Thank you very much for the insight. The only other complaint I forgot to mention is time to time during the day I do get a pinching feeling at the tip of my penis. It comes and goes, like 2-3 times a day. It isn't a killer pain, just more like a 4 on a scale 1-10. I have no visible marks or bumps on it. I'm just curious about that since my test came back negative. I have been drinking more water as you advise and things have been clearing up. I am not sure why this pain is there. I do masturbate 1-2 times a day. Shower 1-2 times a day. With the previous question I do sit down majority of the day because of my new job. Still no pain when I do other functions down there. More like an aching pain if it was some where else on my body. I've always had aching pain throughout my body due to military service. One thing I notice along with the pain is about 15 seconds later my gut rumbles with gas pain. Then 10 minutes later I pass gas. Is this related some how? I've been monitoring it and thats what I've noticed. Again thank you for the help.

This pain is very non specific and does not suggest to have been caused by an infection. i am not surprised the laboratory tests returned negative. I will suggest that you monitor this pain and tend to ignore it unless something else arises because a concerned your worried state of mind tends to reinforce the perception of this pain. These pains are all related and are a group of non specific pains all influenced by the state of mind but in no way represents a pathology or any ongoing pathological process.
