Question: Hi sir,
My son was operated for hip osteotomy for correct of his hip on 25 October 2016..he is still in cast...now suddenly last night he had fever of 100.5 I gave him plain ibugesic syrup 6 ml..his weight is 13 kg and 2.5 year old..the fever came back 2 times today and I gave calpol 120 mg suspension 6 ml both the times at a gap of 6 hours..I got his urine routine checked and I am attaching the report here for your reference ..kindly advice if the report is ok or he needs medication?? His chest is clear..no cold and cough..he is doing his urine in drops and seems to be holding it while urinating..not crying nothing...the incision stitches also seems to have healed and there is nothing no foul smell or anything for his surgery stitches...please check the report and revert at the earliest ..a detailed answer would be appreciable

Brief Answer:
Not a cause for concern.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and have checked the attached report. The urine report seems fine and does not call for treatment with antibiotics. Since he is otherwise active and ok, you need not worry and all you need to do is to give Crocin (paracetamol) to bring down the temperature when needed. You can alternatively give Ibugesic (ibuprofen). Give tepid sponging when necessary.

Hopefully recovery will occur soon.

Why is the fever coming back every 4-5 hour after the effect of the medicine wears off?? Is it viral or what??its not normal to have fever..can u advise ??

Brief Answer:
Get his blood tested.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. The fever is likely to be viral. However, since he has undergone an osteotomy it is important to get his blood counts checked. If the counts are not raised you need not worry and may consider it to be a viral infection.
