What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?

Question: a 5x4x 6mm echogenic focus in the mid posterior body of the uterus abutting the endometrium (subosca) not demonstrating vascularity or shadowing . Endometrium is regular with a maximal thickness of 11mm. Uterus is anteverted measuring 66x51 x65 (volume 115 )

Can you explain what this is Thanks

There is nothing to worry about as yet but this focus needs evaluation in case there has been some irregularities in menstrual pattern or if there is off an on erratic spotting of any kind
So I would like to know why was this ultrasound done so that I can advise you better

Pelvic ultrasound was done as iron levels where low. 14

Menstrual History :

Very regular 28 -30 days between periods lasting 5 to 6 days, just heavy bleeding and clotting , no spotting or bleeding between periods

Can you also explain what not demonstrating vascularity or shadowing means on an ultrasound thank you

Hello dear, sorry for the delay in response as I was struck in some emergency
Shadowing or vascularity if present suggests some active lesion present in the area showing shadowing or increased vascularity
But since that is not there and menstrual pattern is also normal so there is nothing to worry about be all you need is a repeat ultrasound after 3 months

Various possibilities are present

Detailed Answer:
Generally the echoes arise from either a fibroid or an adenomyoma.
Very rarely a polyp or retained product of conception can also ne seen as an echogenic focus
So you can try reading about them as well but all these cause menstrual symptoms so if there is no such symptoms,there is nothing to worry

Fibroids are always vascular dear.
Rarely if they are highly calcified there can be decreased vascularity with very high level echogenicity.

Thankyou , the report states not demonstrating vascularity so how could it be a fibriod as you have said previously if all fibroids are vascular as said above.

So what is the foci in the report if not vascular

That is what I have told you that there seems nothing to worry
Fibroid is just a remote possibility as you repeatedly wanted to know the most probable reason that can cause such an appearance in ultrasound
