What Does This Pelvic Ultrasound Regarding Vaginal Bleeding Indicate?

Question: I went for a pelvic ultrasound and these are my results. I have also included my lab work. Just curious what you think this is.
HISTORY: 48-year-old female had continued vaginal bleeding of 3 weeks duration.      
     
FINDINGS: The uterus measures 11.1x4.6 cm. A small nabothian cyst was seen in      
the cervical region. The endometrium measures 19 . 0 mm. No intra-endometrial      
mass lesions were seen. The right ovary is not seen.. The left ovary measures      
4.5 x 2.7 cm. A simple cyst was seen in the left ovary measuring 3.6 x 2.2 cm.      
No free pelvic fluid is defined.      
     


IMPRESSION :      
1. Endometrial hypertrophy. No intra-endometrial mass lesions were seen. There      
were no myometrial mass lesions.      
2. Right ovary was not seen. Left ovary had a simple cyst with dimensions listed      
above.      
3. No adnexal mass or free fluid in the cul-de-sac.

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

The sonography is normal other than endometrial hypertrophy.

It can be due to hormonal changes or sometime can be due to cancer.

I will advice you to get a dilatation and curettage to see the specimen from your endometrium.

It is a minor procedure and will not take much time. This way we can find out the exact cause of your bleeding and endometrial hypertrophy.

Also the rest of the sonography and blood test is normal except that you have mild amount of hemoglobin deficiency.

I will advice you to start taking iron tablets especially since you are bleeding also.
