What Does This X-ray Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Sat, 2 Jul 2016
Question: A x-Ray for a torn rotator cuff showed atlectasis in the left lung. My doctor failed to read the last line of the report and it was approximately 1 week before I saw the report. She then ordered a follow-up x-ray which today shows right hilar infiltrate. The most recent x-ray is approximately two weeks after the first. I fired my general over the failure to reach the full report on the shoulder x-ray and a number of other mistakes/lapses. I did have bronchitis in April. In the meantime, I have appointment with new internist beginning September. My sleep doc retired and I have mid July appointment with new pulmonologist. Here r my questions:

First x-ray showed atlectasis left lung. Second shows right hilar infiltrate. Do I assume this refers to the right lung?

Do I need to go to urgent care if pulmonologist can't see me now to follow up on hilar infiltrate

Brief Answer:
Recent x ray is not showing any left lung abnormality.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
So, first x ray of left shoulder joint showed atelectesis in left lung.
2 weeks later, recent chest x ray is showing right hilar infiltrates.
Means left lung atelectesis is cleared and now you are having only right hilar infiltrates.
This right hilar infiltrates must be present during first x ray. But since you did not go for full chest x ray at that time, it was missed.
But no need to worry as your x ray is improving (no left atelectesis in recent x ray).
So no need to rush to emergency room.
Please let me know
1. Do you smoke?
2. At present what are your symptoms?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks
