Question: My girlfriend hard ultrasound scan and internal scan doctors only saw 55 mm gestation all sack no yolk got to return in six days for second scan date of conception unknown pregnancy test said 1 to 2 weeks then 2 to 3 weeks HCG levels 6900

Is this most likely to be a miscarriage due to 55 mm sack and HCG 6900 and no visible yolk

Brief Answer:
Blighted ovum

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns about no yolk sac.

Following is my reply:

1. At serum beta hCG levels of 6900, yolk sac should have been seen.

2. Only gestational sac without yolk sac is called blighted ovum and is not a viable pregnancy.

3. Anyway if no yolk sac is seen by next scan, doctor will advise you to get abortion done as no more chances of live pregnancy after that.

I hope I clarified your doubt. Let me know if you need any more help.

On scan the gynocoligist stated the sac and the outer layer? Looked normal and wat he expected at early pregnancy? Hcg levels at 6900 in your oppinion should warrant visable yolk? My question is why is it so many people have gone on too have good preg from a similar position even after 8 weeks. ? Is it possible thst considering sac size and levels you could still see a yolk in 14 days from now? Clear blue showed only 2-3 week preg yesterday, is it poss too have 55mm mean at thst indication and no yolk as really early

Brief Answer:
It ia possible

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Delayed implantation is a condition where in the yolk sac as well as heart beat ight appear bit later.

Serum beta hCG levels are accurate markers and therefore I am considering the negative possibility based on this blood test.

I don't see any harm in waiting for 14 days and confirming. By next one week if there is no yolk sac, it is unlikely to appear even after 14 days.

Brief Answer:
Karyotyping is better option

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If there is no yolk sac in your next scan , then it is not possible to continue the pregnancy.

Such early miscarriage that too frequently suggest possibility of chromosomal problem in the baby.

I suggest you go for karyotyping of the abortus this time if you happen to undergo miscarriage again. This karyotyping of fetus will show if there is any chromosomal problem in the baby.

There is nothing like you cannot carry girls. You might carry.
