What Does The Following Ultrasound Report Indicate?

Question: Pregnant with first child and had first ultrasound at what was thought to be 8w5d. The tech could only find a gestational sac-no yolk, fetal pole or heartbeat. Measured 5w6d. I am confident that at the very least I am 7 weeks along. Now having spotting of brown bloody discharge. Had hcg tested 48 hours apart and levels went from 16,000 to 16,200. Dr plans to do another ultrasound in 10 days to look for growth and heartbeat. Is this normal and is there a chance this pregnancy will be viable?

Welcome to HCM,

I can understand your concerns,

Viability can be confirmed only by ultrasound.

Usually At 5weeks only gestational sac appears and at 6-7weeks fetal heart activity appears.so as per my advise you should wait for 10-14days and go for follow-up ultrasound.

As you told you have spotting ,i will advise you to take micronised progesterone (macgest 200) and Injection proluton depot weekly (prescription drug)(under your gynecologist supervision).these drugs will help in sustaining pregnancy.consult your gynecologist.
