What Does The Following Chest X-ray Report Suggest?
Question: chest xray report = "left basilar pleural-parenchymal opacity correlate for infiltrate mild hyperinflation". What does this mean? I have no symptoms.
Had to have x-ray because had a positive PPD.

I can understand your concern.
This chest X-ray may or may not be related to PPD test result. I mean to say that, the PPD test result is incidentally detected.
If you were my patient I would recommend you the following examinations:
-The direct examination of sputum for bacillus of tuberculosis that may be taken from cough secretions or by bronchoscopic lavage (BAL).
-CT of the thorax with intravenous contrast to explore better what kind of opacity it is.
If the results are positive for tuberculosis your doctor will refer you to a Pulmonologist who for sure will start the medications against tuberculosis.
If the results are not related, the pulmonologist will advise you further, probably h/she will prescribe you a treatment for TB and explore further the opacity with chest CT.
Please consult with your doctor regarding the above tests.
