Brief Answer:
Your test is fine

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr. kakkar (dermatologist and venereologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

Index value of a test below cut off means that the result is negative. Usually this value is never Zero. Also a value below cut off does not mean that it is low level positive or going to become positive later provided that the test is done at the right time for it to be reliably interpreted. For example index value of an ELISA test for HIV at 4 weeks of sexual intercourse is a reliable indicator of HIV status.
Moreover in your case the nature of intimate contact does not pose any risk of HIV.

sir....i have some doubts
1.The test is ECLIA TEST for HIV...nt ELISA....Can i trust the test at 4 weeks??
2.I am having mouth ulcer....I read somewhere that it is a symptom of HIV.....
3.Can u explain me what does this index value of .24 indicate?? The result is NON REACTIVE...but i am afraid if this value crosses 1....

sir i have done a Liver Functioning Test

all fine except
bilirubin 1.19
Globulin 2.7 range (2.8-3.2)

I have uploaded my report....
Is it any way related to HIV?
And because i am having mouth ulcer....i am getting worried...i am also afraid...that my HIV ECLIA TEST index value 0.24 may crose 1 in future....help me sir...i am worried

Brief Answer:
Your test is conclusive

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

ECLIA is chemiluminescence assay and it is the latest 4th generatiin HIV screening test. It is most accurate at 3-4 weeks.
Mouth ulcer is not a specific sign of HIV. It is otherwise very common in tge general population.
Index value indicates the result in reference to cut off value. Cut off value can vary depending on the test kit and so can index value for different test kits. Index value need not be zero. Your test is fine and it is reliable at 4 weeks.
You may take a opinion of a medicine specialist regarding slighly deranged LFT but it has certainly nothing to do with HIV.

Sir the ECLIA test
.
gave.only result of antibody??
not antigen
..is it 4th generation??
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Kakkar (4 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Retest with a 4th generation screening test

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
No. It is 3rd generation if it only screened for HIV antibodies.
You may undergo a 4th generation test for both P24 antigen and HIV antibody screening. Its result would be more reliable and conclusive at 4 weeks.

sir can i judge a 3rd Generation test at 4 weeks..

.i did not have any symptom.of hiv till.now....only. mouth ulcer....i am.fine

do i need to retest???

getting worried....its already a month after i visited the massage parlour
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Kakkar (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Retest with a 4th generation screening test for your peace of mind

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

A 3rd generation screening test at 4 weeks is very suggestive of HIV status, however, a small number of infected patients may have falsely negative result at 4 weeks. Therefore, in order for a 3rd generation screening test to be absolutely reliable, its value at 12 weeks (window period) is considered conclusive.
Whereas a 4th generation screening test has a short window period of 2-3 weeks and is therefore more reliable at 4 weeks. You may redo a 4th generation screening test rather than wait for 12 weeks
Though the nature of your sexual contact does not pose any risk of transmission of HIV and moreover oral ulcer is not an indication for HIV testing because it is not a specific sign of HIV infection.

Brief Answer:
Hyperhidrosis could be due to anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) could be due to anxiety from fear of infection with HIV. Again night sweating is not a specific symptom of HIV.

sir i did.another ELISA TEST for HIV at 5 weeks and it came negative....3rd Gen

Do i need further testing??
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Kakkar (14 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Do a 4th generation hiv screening test

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

As I already told you a 3rd generation test has a window period of 12 weeks whereas a 4th generation test has a shorter window period of 3-4 weeks therefore you need to do a 4th generation hiv screening test rather than a 3rd generation one.
