Posted on Mon, 1 Dec 2014
Question: Recently I had been hospitalised for hypertension. BRAIN MRI DONE - DOPPLER TEST , LIPID PROFILE, BLOOD TEST, THYROID TEST, SUGAR TEST AND ECHO CARDIO OF HEART ALSO DONE. 5-10 percent stenosis diagnosed and left cartoid arteries plaque observed and my cholestrol and sugar level at the time of admission to hospital was very high and also BP with 160/90. Now BP AND sugar level are in normal range. Sugar level during fasting - within 90 always and BP 130/90 and sometimes it will be 120/70. i have been advised to take Rozustat 20mg and Clopilet-A 75/150 mg daily. I am taking these tablets since a month (from 5th oct till date). Now my lipid profile readings (today test done - fasting) are as under:

TOTAL CHOLESTROL - 112 mg/dl
TRIGLYCERIDES - 88 mg/dl
HDL - 46 mg/dl
LDL - 48 mg/dl
VLDL cholestrol - 18 mg/dl
CHOL: HDL RATIO: 2.00
Thyroid profile - T3 - 1.03 ng/ml
T4 - 9.89 mcg/dl
TSH - 2.77 muIu/ml.
Whether my position improved?
In addition to this i am having mild fatty liver as observed in u/s of my abdomen. Also, i am taking pantocid-40mg for gastric problem.

Brief Answer:
There is significant improvement.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX

I am aware of your previous query. There is significant improvement in lipid profile.
Now all parameters of lipid profile are within normal limit.
It is good that now blood pressure and blood sugar level are normal.

You are taking right medicines. You should continue it.Rozustat is for altered lipid profile and Clopilet-A acts as antiplatelet aggregation(it will take care of carotid artery plaques from further progression).

Mild fatty liver is a reversible condition. It will be reversed by life style changes and medicines for altered lipid profile.

Thyroid profile is also within normal limit.

Get well soon.
Hope i have answered your query.
Further queries are most welcome.

Respected Sir,

You have suggested to continue ROZUSTAT 20MG AND CLOPILET-A 75/150 MG . Whether continuation of Rozustat will reduce cholesterol level further? or if i STOP these medicines; reverse effect will be there? Because taking these medicines;i feel tiredness sometimes; whether i have to take more nutritious food to compensate ? However, I have not stopped these medicines so far on any day. Whether long term taking these medicines will have effect of its own in future?
Kindly guide. Also kindly suggest whether i have to continue Thyronorm 50mcg also?

Brief Answer:
Please find detail answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX

Continuation of ROZUSTAT will not further reduce cholesterol level because it is naturally balanced after attaining normal level.Generally these medicines for metabolic disorders need life long treatment and it is most likely to shoot-up after discontinuation of medicines.
Occasional tiredness may be due to myalgia(it is common side effect of statins).
There is no long term side effect, you should take it continoulsy. However,SGPT should be monitored because it may also cause liver toxicity.

Get well soon.
Hope i have answered your query.
