Brief Answer:
add a topical steroid nasal spray, avoid allergen

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Post nasal drip of mucus is a common problem.

It is most commonly caused by allergies. Allergies to dust, pollen, animal dander, food or drinks can cause this problem.

I have a patient who also had this problem and whose allergy tests showed she was allergic to banana.
Others react to exposure to dust

Infection such as the cough/cold can also cause post nasal drip.

Treatment involves: (a) avoiding the allergen if known. You may want to make a note if any circumstances that worsen the drip or consider allergy testing

(b)continue the anti histamine decongestant but add a topical steroid nasal spray to this eg nasonex, nasocort, flonase or rhinocort.
The use of one of these sprays may help

(c) if there is no relief with the above, may need to consider medication such as montelukast or ketotifen
Both of these medications work at different points in the pathway of the allergic response and can help to suppress the mucus drip if the plain anti histamine are not effective

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Brief Answer:
is using steroid spray for at least 2 wks, add montelukast or ketotifen

Detailed Answer:
HI

In the medication list mentioned claritine d, the use of a topical steroid spray was not mentioned.

If you have been using a steroid spray for at least two to three weeks along with the claritine d then you may want to add the montelukast or ketotifen that were mentioned.

If you have been using the montelukast and ketotifen along with the steroid spray and antihistamine (if using montelukast), then would need to consider allergy testing

The allergy testing would determine exactly what is causing your symptoms so that you can reduce your exposure
