Question: I sure hope you can Help me. I've been suffering with abdominal distention for around 6 years. I wake up one morning and my stomach was so distended that I looked 6 months pregnant. In the beginning my belly would go up and down somewhat. Now I'm to the point I consistently llos 8-9 months pregnant. However the blout is up high not low like late month pregnancy. I have had every possible test, gastric emptying ( 1st time was positive for gastroparris,a year later and three yrs later tested again but was negative). X-rays; scans; blood work, pyloric stenois was ruled out. Go ascities or excess gas, I'm not constipated This does or seem to be food related either. I can go hours with out eating or drinking and suddendly I blow up so extreme that it feels like my diapham is being pressured. Could this be a parasite causing this? Please help.

Brief Answer:
Ibs is a diagnosis of exclusion when despite of all possible tests we cant find anything wrong we consider patient having ibs.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for query.
Have gone through your details.Abdominal distension occurs when substances, such as air (gas) or fluid, accumulate in the abdomen causing its outward expansion beyond the normal girth of the stomach and waist. It is typically a symptom of an underlying disease or dysfunction in the body, rather than an illness in its own right.Unless your stomach bloating is caused by a medical condition such as liver or heart disease, the only real cause is intestinal gas.
Have you ever got your heart checked?
Ass almost all tests are normal most likely it can be a symptom of an underlying digestive condition like irritable bowel syndrome.Recent studies by French scientists have indicated that the most important mechanisms include visceral sensitivity, abnormal gut motility and autonomous nervous system dysfunction. The interactions between these three mechanisms make bowel's function susceptible to many exogenous and endogenous factors like gastrointestinal flora, feeding and psychosocial factors. In ibs the structure of the intestines is normal, only functional abnormality occurs in this condition.

Please mention the medications tried by you till date.
Most likely its not related to parasite however has a stool test been ever done by you.
If not then you can go for a stool test to rule out parasitic infection.
Note: For further follow up on digestive issues share your reports here and Click here.
