What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 18 Aug 2017
Question: So I just got the report from a kidney/bladder ultra sound.... I believe the remark about the kidneys being unremarkable, is that it is functioning normally.

However, not sure what this means:

BLADDER: Not well distended
Bladder Pre Void: 54 ml
Bladder Post Void: 0 ml

IMPRESSION:
No hydronephrosis. Bladder not well distended.
I'm, 64 yo and overweight with diabetes. My MD is not available and just wondered if the "not well distended" was something I need to follow up on.

Thank you

Brief Answer:
Not distended means that doesn't have enough urine to distend the bladder walls

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HealthcareMagic,
I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

Bladder, not well-distended means that at the moment of the ultrasound you didn't have enough urine so the bladder would distend (open up its walls). If you can notice there you had 54 ml of urine when the bladder holds around 350ml.

What you have posted here from the report, I see nothing to worry about.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.

Regards,
Dr.Papaqako
