Brief Answer:
Diet changes and statin

Detailed Answer:
Hello, sir. Welcome to Health Care Magic and thank you for your question. I read your query.

It is clear from the readings that cholesterol levels need to be brought under control. Considering the male sex and the age of 55 years old, primary prevention for cardiovascular/coronary artery disease is warranted. As you also mentioned, a statin (inhibitors of hydroxy-methyl-glutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase - an important enzyme in the cholesterol biosynthesis) should be started. Rosuvastatin is, until now, in the broad using, an effective statin, also the one with the most favourable side effect profile. However, any statin is effective as a cholesterol-lowering agent, acting both on total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol.

I also recommend you to adjust to a strict low-fat, rich in fibres diet and lifestyle changes:
- 60 minutes a day of physical activity: walking, brisk walking, jogging, swimming or gym
- green leafy vegetables and fruit, up to 300 g a day
- reduction of alcohol intake to a maximum of 30 g ethanol a day, e.g. one glass of wine or two beers or a shot of heavy drinks such as vodka, gin, whiskey etc.
- no animal fat, only floral oil (preferably olive oil) for cooking
- more chicken or other poultry and fish, maximum once a week with red meat, and no raw meat
- only the white of an egg, after removing the orange, cholesterol-containing part (preferable)

It is recommended that the following biochemical tests are done three months after you have been started on a statin and the above-mentioned diet and lifestyle modifications: total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, AST, ALT, bilirubin.

I hope I have been of help. I am happy to help, if you have follow-up questions. Please rate the answer, if you do not. Wish you a good health.

Best regards,
Dr. Meriton

Brief Answer:
Hi again

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back, sir.

Well, this is a rare condition that requires some dietary changes. Food with high sugar content should be avoided. The diet I provided in my initial answer is an appropriate one (with fruit, vegetables and protein), also grain bread should be added to your regimen. My last advice regarding this condition, is that it is recommended to eat small portions of food more often (every 3-4 hours) in a day.

I hope I was helpful with my answer. Wish you a good health.

Best regards,
Dr. Meriton
