What Does My Thyroid Test Results Indicate?

Question: Hi,

i have done thyroid tests on 14thJan as general routine which i go for every 6 months. And results are, T3 - 111, T4 - 10 and TSH - 2.58. comment was given as suggesting thyonormalcy. i am 33 year old, 156 cm height and 80 kgs weight. do i need to consult a doctor?

Please suggest.

Detailed Answer:
The results of the thyroid hormone levels that you have shared with me are indeed in the range of normal.

No further testing is necessary to assess the function of the thyroid, because these tests provide a very accurate idea about this.

As these are normal and if you do not have any of the following:

1 Thyroid swelling ('goiter' that appears as a neck swelling)

2 Family history of thyroid problems

3 Positive blood tests for thyroid auto antibodies such as anti TPO (Thyroid Peroxidase) and anti Thyroglobulin antibodies

then there is no need to undergo repeated thyroid testing twice a year.

You can leave it at the discretion of your health care provider to see if such tests are required in future.
