Question: good afternoon,
sir/madam
i have a question for my father....he was experiencing dry cough for last 4 months(with absolutely no other symptoms)we went to the doctor and got a CBC done...here are the results..
neutrophil-80%
lymphocyte-15%
eosinophil-00
monocyte-02%
leucocyte-6400/cu mm of blood
platelet-2.18 lakhs/cu mm of blood
the doctor first prescribed moxifloxacin for it,but my father had a severe reaction against levofloxacin in past,therefore he prescribed clarithromycin(clarinova 500 2 times a day) for 10 days...after that he was given azibact 500 for 6 days.... now his cough has improved a lot with only 2-3 times during daytime and 1 time during night when he is asleep...coughing lasts for around 30-40 seconds...(he has completed all doses of antibiotics and is only taking unicarbazanforte as prescribed) but now sometimes slight phlegm comes in his throat and also some voice change occurs(it is not persistent)...so i wanted to know if every thing is alright or is there anything to worry? Thanks..

1. Take your father to an ENT doctor and ask for a "direct laryngoscopy".
2. Stop taking unicarbazanforte. It is given for nematode "worm" infections.
3. Give your father, this cough syrup. "Ascoril-D", not Ascoril Plus or any other
ascoril cough syrup, but "Ascoril D".
4. This contains a drug called as "Dextromethorphan"
5. This cough syrup is only to be taken for 5 days, three times a day.
6. The coughing problem will stop instantly. Once it stops, stop giving the syrup.
7. Kindly print this out and show to pharmacist.
