What Does My MRI Scan Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Jan 2017
Question: I have major back pain along with foot, ankle, and shin pain. I was originally told I had Pagets disease but the blood work is not consistent with the disease. I have had a bone scan that only shows issues with my spine. An MRI shows "
a Tiny subchondral cyst of the lateral cuneiform and no fracture". I don't know what to think?

Brief Answer:
Mechanical back pain

Detailed Answer:
good evening.

thank. you for writing on health care magic

Well back pain can be really troublesome.. We need to rule. out If it is due to inflammation or other causes. Your MRI doesn't explain the cause of it as these cysts are benign usually and don't cause much of trouble..i would like to know a few queries here to understand your disease

1. When is your pain more.. on activity or at rest

2. do you experience night pains , difficulty in turning position

3. any early morning stiffness

4. does the pain radiate to your legs

5. is your sleep pattern OK or is it disturbed

6.What all medications hVe you tried for back pain

7. Did they do other blood test like ESR or CRP

Do let me know these queries. would try to guide you further from here

The pain is worse after activity and after long periods of rest. I will say that I have to stop activities sometimes because of the pain. I do have night pain that makes it difficult to change positions or find the right position. I have early morning stiffness in my feet, my hands, my hip and my back. My feet are the worse. My legs often feel like I have restless leg syndrome. However the pain in my legs is constant in my shins and the muscles around them. I have taken Naprosyn and Lidocaine patches and for my feet they gave me Diclofenac.

Sorry for the late reply. had a long duty

Well, as per your history is suggestive, it doesnt look like inflammation going on. It is more of mechanical pain which is spreading all over your body. I would give you a site to read about the disease and see if your symptoms match...We need to change the medications, as Naprosyn and Diclofenac are not going to be too useful in the long run. They may cause more side effects than relief

Do let me know once you read it. Will try to manage things accordingly

Brief Answer:
Fibromyalgia

Detailed Answer:
Good evening

Well yes, even I feel the same...All your lab results are normal which rules out the inflammation or infection...So, I feel your pain did originate from one place and has now moved on to affect the other parts as well....

Fibromyalgia is a diagnosis of exclusion. So I think your rheumatologist is being over cautious in labeling you with this disease..SO he is ruling all out the possible etiology...

Meanwhile, I would suggest give a try with Ultracet for pain and you can read on which drug you had like to choose. We normally start with Duloxetine/Amitryptilline

DO let me know for more queries
