What Does My MRI Results Indicate?

Question: I am waiting to hear back from doctor but would like to understand MRI results that say "there Is an abnormal 1 cm low signal focus extending anterior to the left SI joint into the iliopsoas muscle as seen on the T1 coronal image of the sacrum image and the PD axial of the pelvis image of unknown etiology."

Hello

MRI findings suggests presence of small(1 cm) abnormal low signal focus anterior to left sacro-iliac(SI) joint which is extending to adjacent muscle, iliopsoas.It is seen in T1 coronal and PD(Proton density)sequences of MRI.MRI uses different types of signals during scanning.
This findings is not related to any known cause,it may be non specific.
Most likely it is not related to your son's hip pain.

what exactly does the low signal focus meant though--what would be reasons it looks the way it does?
