What Does "moulding Of The Right Side Of The Cervical Cord" Mean?
Question: I have moulding of the right side of the cervical cord and a focal right paracentral disc/ osteophyte complex at T8/9 leading to moulding of the right sde of thoracic spinal cord. Can you explain what this means in simple terms please

I assume the findings that you report are related to an MRI scan of your spine.
what the report means is that in your neck and the spine in your back you have a prolapse or protrusion of the discs between the vertebral bodies which is pressing a little on your spinal cord 'moulding' it or changing it's shape slightly.
if there is still plenty of space within the spine for the spinal cord despite this it is not necessarily something that needs to be treated.
the type of symptoms that this might produce of significant would be some unsteadiness when walking a so called myopathy.

I have lots of small cysts inside both my kidneys and some on the outside. Some days I am in a lot of pain. Someone said the pain is from my back but it gets very painful under my ribs. Can the pain be from the back or is it the kidneys ?

Yes your kidneys can also give you back pain, typically at the junction between the rib cage and your spine the so called renal angle. Sometimes it is difficult to disntinguish between pain emanating from you spine and your kidneys. Cysts in the kidneys are not always painful, but then neither is having the findings seen on your MRI scan.
When there is no treatable cause for the pain then we treat the pain itself. A referral to a pain specialist can be of benefit. Modalities other than pain killers can be employed such as physiotherapy and massage.

Thank you so much for your help. I am sorry to be a pest. It is just hard to undestand the pain. Some days it is so bad.the Mri report says
T8/9 there is a focal right paracentral disc/osteophyte complex measuring 7 x 3.5 x 6mm leading to moulding. Itr also says Degenerative spondylosis throughout the cervicothoracic spine. moderate spinal canal stenosis at c5/6 with moulding. Multilevel bilateral neural exit foramen narrowing in the cervical spine.
I have already had a wallace fusion on my lower back. Will my problems lead to more surgery or just more pain ?
The pain I get starts under my ribs and is sharp and leads to my kidneys feeling sore ad tender then end up with a pain in my back.At one time the urologist was contemplating removing my left kidney but when he looked at my right kidney decided to leave it. I also get up every hr in the night to spend a XXXXXXX

The best indication for spinal surgery is for nerve decompression. It appears from the scan report that you may have some narrowing around the nerves in your neck but this does not mean that they are compressed. The nerves in your neck when compressed would usually give you pain in your arms.
Degenerative change or arthritis in the spine is not usually an indication for surgery and is more commonly managed by other means. This is because surgery has not been shown to be successful in treating the pain associated with the changes seen on an MRI scan of the spine. With this uncertainty about whether the pain will improve with surgery (usually to fuse the spine) and the complications from such surgery being significant, surgery is often reserved for when all other options have been exhausted.
In your case also it is not entirely clear where the pain is coming from. A pain specialist may be able to help disinguish and try some new therapies to help you manage your symptoms.
