Brief Answer:
Some side effects last up to three weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Some of side effects of Xanax including gasps, may need up to three weeks to wear off, so it depends when you stopped Xanax and did you stopped it immediately or slowly.

If gasps persist over three weeks, other causes should be assessed ( mainly related to anxiety).

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
Remember next time you have to stop a drug that affects nervous system function, don't stop it immediately, lower ( half dose eg.) the doses every 2-3 days.
