Brief Answer: Possibility of Tropical Eosinophilia Detailed Answer: Hi Welcome to Healthcare-Magic Greetings of the day Namasthe Dear Mr XXXX, The only laboratory abnormality present is presence of excess Eosinophils( also known as Eosinophilia). The absolute Eosinophil count is more than 500 which is quite significant. Presence of Eosinophils along with Fever possibility of Tropical Pulmonary Eosinophil Syndrome is to be considered. It occurs due to worm infestation, the food/water infected with eggs of worms like Roundwrom which are swallowed, get absorbed from intestine and pass through lungs during their developmental cycle in human. It is usually associated with high grade fever and sometimes respiratory complaints. I would suggest you to discuss this probability with your treating Pediatrician, getting a Chest X Ray is also important. Empirical treatment with antihelmenthic like Albendazole along with Hetrazan(DEC) will be helpful. This is just one of the differential diagnosis for the cause of fever, as the fever is present for quite long it will require thorough clinical examination by your Physician and further investigation if the fever still persists. Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you. Take Care Best Regards Dr Deepak Kishore MBBS,MS,MCH Consultant Pediatric Surgeon

Thanks a lot for the immediate response. He does not have any cough associated with this fever. It is just that he is feverish at night and once during the day. Very fussy and irritated. He is not de-wormed in the past six moths. His skin allergy was diagnosed as a genetic one, - actually dry skin. not even allergy. He has very sensitive dry skin. If we don't apply the liq petroleum 4-5 times a day, his skin becomes very dry. This has been as told by the dermatologist. We were told he will get over with this condition when he grows up. I am meeting up with his pediatrician tonight. Do i need to ask anything else specific to his conditions?
