What Does Early Period Bleeding After Taking I Pill Indicate?

Question: Hello doc,i had sex with my girl on 27th april morning,the 9 th day from her last period..i am very much sure that i didnt ejaculated anything inside her,but to be on a safe side she took ipill within 24hours.she didnt have any withdrawal bleeding after taking the pill.and she is having bleeding from yesterday, 14 th may,4days before her next periods.her date was 18 th april and she is very regular.it is bit less in amount,a bit thick,little bit darker in color than usualy she used to have.is all ok??or there is some problem we should concern about??is it possible to get withdrwal bleeding after 17 days of consuming ipill or it is her normal periods?how can we be sure that everything is ok and it is her normal period stuff?please help me out by detailed answer and please suggest what to do.thank you...

Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
NO this is not her withdrawal bleed.
This is most likely her normal period.
THe I pill has this side effect of preponing or postponing normally expected periods by a week or more, so 4 days early period is a side effect of taking the I pill, but it is still her normal period.
THe I pill also affects amount and type of bleeding, so that is fine.
To be sure that there is no risk of pregnancy, just take a pregnancy test once her period ends.
In future, always use regular contraception.

Thank you doc for answering my question.But if that is normal period then why there is a need for pregnancy test?If she is having a period then i can be rest assured that she is not pregnant right?Can you please explain how can she still have chance of being pregnant?
