Brief Answer:
Kindly upload the entire report!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

It is tricky interpreting results of HSV screens. Laboratory reference values as well as the type of antibodies reported. I will need to see the entire report in order to be able to provide a comprehensive and helpful response to you. Without seeing this report, your answer wouldn't be personalized and helpful.

It was a hsv 1/2 specific type AB test. I have never in my life had one cold sore bump itch.. nothing. I requested all these tests so I am very schocked. I had a yeast infection and bacterial vaginitis the day I was tested. Could this have latrrrd the results .??

Hsv 1-58
Hsv 2-3.49(I was told to get a Western Blot as this could be a false positive)

Brief Answer:
The report is indispensable!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Like I mentioned above, the script is indispensable. I need to know what antibody type was measured, specific test procedure and the laboratory guidelines for interpretation. Without these, it will not be possible to actually tell you what the specific significance of these results is.

Take a photo of these results and upload as directed above. This will go a long way to help.

With no active outbreaks, it makes a false positive more likely. However, I can only be certain of this call after carefully reviewing your reports.

I look forward hearing from you.

I just uploaded the document. It was IGG test. I wish I never got this test because I was experiencing no symptoms at all. Like I said before I have never had any bumps or cold soars in/in my mouth or Genital area. Yet both tests come back positive?!?!? I was told the hsv 2 IGG is 3.49 and a false positive can range from 1.1 to 5. I was told to get a WEstern BLot for peace of mind but if I never have a breakout should I do this ?????I’m confused.

Brief Answer:
THis signals a past infection!

Detailed Answer:
HI and thanks so much for the image.

1. The area on interpretation per this specific method wasn't captured.

2. The IgG antibodies mean that this is a long standing marker and you might have contracted this a long time in the past. The high titers for HSV1 mean for real you have been a victim of this. I am not sure why you never noticed this but it supports the fact that you have at least suffered from HSV. For HSV2, this is in the false positive range and that might be the explanation./

3. I concur that you get a western blot for definitive analysis and response. This way, we will no longer have to make approximate calls but definitive ones.

I wish you well.
