Question: My boyfriend has small whitish blisters inside his mouth that are very painful and are spreading. He was put on Augmentin Saturday. He was also given XXXXXXX Mouthwash labeled Mortongro. He feels much worse than he did on Saturday. What can he do for relief now? He can't eat and generally feels terrible.

Brief Answer:
he should be examined by a doctor immediately

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

let me clarify that I can't diagnose anything from afar (without clinical examination) but I can suggest some potential diagnoses. Augmentin may promote fungus colonization by eliminating competing bacteria. Candida is a common pathogen and may spread when a patient is on antibiotics. The symptoms are usually less blatant than your description and you should be able to notice lesions that look like spilled milk.
Another potential diagnosis is a reaction to the drug that causes mucosal damage in his mouth (erythema multiforme? Stevens-Johnson syndrome?). Such events are not very common but they're serious enough to warrant immediate assessment.
Finally herpes simplex virus infection (or reactivation) has to be considered. Herpes usually reactivates on the same spot every time. The lip is a common site for most patients.

My suggestion is to try to find a doctor as soon as possible. Try to contact the treating doctor to ask for the need to continue augmentin, as this is a potential offending factor.

Such lesions in the mouth cannot be easily relieved. The lesions should be left to heal. There are some OTC products for mouth sores but they rarely bring substantial benefits.

I hope you find my comments helpful!
Kind Regards!
