Question: Greetings!

Dr. XXXXXXX recommended few tests (iron profile, vitamin b12, folic acid & vitamin d3) after checking my yearly health check report, in Oct '16. Attached are the reports. Based on Dr. VSK's recommendation I was taking Calcimax forte and B-colex daily for the past 3 months. He suggested a retest after 3 months. Attached is the report of vitamin b12 and vitamin d3, as of yesterday. Could you please check advise next course of action.

Best Regards

Brief Answer:
follow the advises.. maintain a healthy lifestyle..

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX Welcome back,

Yes, I've gone through the reports (however i couldn't find any serum calcium level done, always remember to recheck the serum calcium level along with Vitamin D3 levels ), there isn't significant improvement of the Vitamin-D3 level yet despite taking the Calcimax-forte for past 3 months though the B-12 level shows improvement after B-colex intake..

You can take the B-Colex once daily after breakfast for one more month then stop it thereafter..

Instead of the Calcimax-Forte, I'd suggest Vitamin D3 60,000 IU Once a Week for next 12 weeks (available in both Capsule as well as XXXXXXX form, please check with your local pharmacy for availability), you can take it with or after meals.. You need to have prescription from your local physician for this..

Tab Calcium Carbonate or Calcium Citrate 500 mg Once daily after food for next 3 months.. (All these are prescription based medication, so please get the appropriate prescription from your local physician)..

You need to get the Vitamin D3 level and serum Calcium levels checked after this to decide on further course of action..

Since you're vegetarian, foods i.e. Milk (fortified, available in all big supermarkets and dept. stores) and milk products like yogurt, buttermilk, cheese etc., ground nuts, mushrooms, sesame seeds, almonds etc. will be beneficial. Also try to replace your regular wheat/flour containing foods to whole grain/whole wheat products..

It'll be better to schedule an appointment with an Internal medicine specialist for a thorough clinical check-up to look for any underlying symptoms (also s/he will provide you with the necessary prescriptions for the same accordingly)..

Avoid junk foods, processed foods(burger, pizza etc.) and packaged fruit juices, try to eat fresh seasonal fruits instead..avoid smoking, if at all do.. Drink plenty of water(3-3.5 ltr per day), staying well hydrated is extremely important too as it'll not only help increasing the body's metabolism but also helps to flush the toxins out..

Nothing to worry, but it's a gradual process, so please follow these above mentioned advises to yield the maximum benefits..

I've tried to make it as simple as possible for you to understand, let me know in case of any further queries..

Take Care
Kind Regards
