Brief Answer:
Needs Lipitor

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Your cholesterol is 249 mg/dl and is by standards high. Your Non HDL cholesterol which is bad cholesterol is also high and over 200 mg/dl. This asks for an anti cholesterol medication therapy i.e statin that are in Lipitor.

Given your age your doctor should have put you on the medication even before seeing the result. I think that was a good decision on the part of the doctor.

Without explicit mentioning you also need to look at your diet, exercise schedule as well. If you have high BP, diabetes you should address those issues with medications concurrently. If uncontrolled all of them compound together contribute to low quality of life.

Brief Answer:
Get quarterly liver function tests

Detailed Answer:
Lipitor should be started after liver function assessment i.e by getting liver enzymes done. But just raised enzymes should not stop putting on lipitor. Hence the right way of doing is to get quarterly liver enzymes done and assessing if lipitor further raises the enzymes or not.
Let me know what are the liver enzymes right now and enzymes before starting lipitor.

Brief Answer:
Alternate anticholesterol medications

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You did not mention the values of the enzymes.
I suggest you to get alternative medicines prescribed by your doctor. That is the only way out.
