Brief Answer:
Following are my comments and suggestions

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

I have reviewed your attached report. It shows small ovarian cyst (simple type) on the left side. Mild free fluid in pelvis is nothing significant. Followings are my comments:

1) You have nothing to worry much about ultrasound finding if your period is quite regular. Small simple ovarian cyst may present in some cases during reproductive period without any significant hormonal or pathological derangement.

2) If your period is quite IRREGULAR with or without hirsutism (facial hair) or dermatological problem, you have to start combined oral contraceptive pill to regularize monthly cycle and ongoing symptoms. Metformin may be added in that case.

Here, I suggest you to consult with your gynecologist for proper medication and appropriate measures.

In the mean time, do the following things for life style modification:

1) Control body weight by regular physical exercise in the means of jogging/ walking/ treadmill. It certainly improves fertility and period problem.

2) Avoid stress by yoga/deep breathing regularly 20-30 times at a time.

3) Take LOW carbohydrate and healthy diet with avoidance of fatty/ salty food.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Dr S Patra

Brief Answer:
SImple cyst is quite common.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for follow up query.

1) Yes, simple ovarian cyst is quite common during reproductive period. It is very small one and medical intervention is usually not required unless period is disturbed.

2) Combined oral contraceptive pill (hormonal tab) and Metformin are the mainstay of treatment in case of irregular period or hormonal disturbance.

Choice of medicine depends on your clinical symptoms and I suggest you to consult with your local gynecologist for complete prescription.

3) Foods to be eaten - Soy foods like Tofu etc; beans, lentils, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, banana, almond, cashew nut, Omega-3 fatty acid foods and Vitamin B supplements.

Foods to be avoid - Alcohol, wheat related product, caffeine, sugar added food. LOW carbohydrate diet is preferable.

Be well and take care. Good luck.

Regards, Dr S Patra
