Question: hi doctor my age is 42 and i m suffering from uti....my urine rm report showing 300 pus cells and im getting lower abdomen pain and pain after urination....my dr.advice me to take mikacin 500mg injection 2 times a day till seven days....so sud i continous this treatment

Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been diagnosed to have UTI and advised Inj Amikacin twice daily ,Amikacin is commonly prescribed in UTI .However looking at the severe infection I would suggest you take appropriate antibiotic as per culture report .

Please get your urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.

Please take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefotaxime along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkalizer thrice daily .Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure to drink more water .To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.
