Question: My WBC was 15.8 and my neutrophils were 13.1. I have no obvious signs of infection except a high fever. What does this mean?

Brief Answer:
neutrophils are a type of white blood cell

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

As you stated, the fever is an indicator of infection and this infection is the reason the wbc is increased.

Neutrophils are a type of white blood cells, one of the types of white blood cells. The report may have mentioned the others such as lymphocytes, eosinophils, basophils

Neutrophils respond to bacterial infections usually , so this may indicate that you may have a bacterial infection brewing.
Viral infections can also cause an increase.
Most infections are simple infections and respond to treatment.

If at the moment, there are no other symptoms other than fever, you can monitor for any additional symptoms and these can be treated accordingly.

Eg if cough and cold symptoms occur these can be treated with over the counter meds, fluids and rest unless severe

If there are symptoms related to any other system eg urinary symptoms or gastro etc, then these can also treated.
