Brief Answer:
It is not the fibroid growing back- it can take up to 6 months for uterine surgery to heal completely

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

Myomectomies usually, even when done laparoscopically, need a full 3-6 months for the incisions on the uterus to heal. If the fibroid you had removed was deep within the walls of the uterus, it can cause bleeding from the incision while healing which is not really a period but may cause irregular spotting. The stress of the surgery itself can also make your menstrual cycle to me irregular.

So in summary you will not feel the full benefit of the surgery for up to 6 months. The bulk symptoms go away quickly, but your cycle may take much longer to get back to normal.

I would see your surgeon back at 6 months and if you still have irregular bleeding then to have another ultrasound. In the meantime, what you feel is very common and you do not have to worry that's it is a recurrence of the fibroid.

I hope I adequately answered your question and that my advice was helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact me again if you need any clarification or further inquiries.

Best wishes, Dr. Brown

Brief Answer:
Your uterus may have stitches in it beginning to dissolve.

Detailed Answer:
The symptoms you had with your period were probably from the fibroid itself. Once your uterus heals completely heals this may no longer occur but that can take a long time to happen- even 6 months after the surgery. There are sutures in your uterus that slowly dissolve and disappear but as they do you may have some irregular bleeding until the uterus fully heals, which can take 6 months.

Agnus Castus is a natural product so is not tested for effectiveness but it certainly cannot hurt for you to try. Anti inflammatory pain relievers like Ibuprofen can help too.
