Question: I possibly got frostbite on my nose and cheeks yesterday. I have noticed some bruising and the skin peeling on my chin today. I didn't notice that yesterday. My friend thinks I need to see a doctor.

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have checked the attached images. If your face and chin has been exposed to freezing temperatures it could indeed be frostbite which is nothing but a local freezing injury that can cause tissue loss. The goal of frostbite treatment is to salvage as much tissue as possible, to achieve maximal return of function, and to prevent complications. Rewarm the frostbitten area as quickly as possible to salvage as much tissue and function as possible. The use of circulating water at 40-42°C is common. Do not allow the water to get too hot or too cold. Avoid premature termination of the rewarming process. Remember to treat pain associated with rewarming. Carry out daily hydrotherapy for 30-45 min at 40°C. The injured area should be closely monitored for signs of infection. Analgesics (eg, ibuprofen and morphine) for pain relief are indicated during and after rewarming. Apply topical aloe vera cream to all frostbitten areas every 6 hours to inhibit the arachidonic cascade, especially thromboxane synthesis. Taking citrus fruits should help since they contain Vitamin C which would help in tissue regeneration.

That should suffice. Nevertheless, I would not discourage you from seeing a doctor.
