Hello

Brown urine in 82 year old male , who had kidney stones could be due to following reasons

1. Brown coloured urine could be due to less water intake , in this age group usually 2.5liter/day is enough

2. Brown urine could be an indication of less water being filtered from the kidneys due to age related kidney disease , or reformation of stones causing kidney to get weak and less water excretion.

3. Prostate enlargement can also cause brown coloured urine due to back flow kidney injury and less kidney reserves in this age group .

In any way if his conscious level is fine , and he is healthy , try having more water intake as i described.

If not improvement you can take him to ER for kidney function tests+ultrasound

Hope this helps.

Regards.
