Question: hello doctor, my baby boy is one month old. he was admitted for photo therepy a week after he born for high level of bilirubin. bilirubin level was 19, after going through phototherepy for 24 hrs it came to 10. his eyes still look slightly yellow. do we need to take him for checkup again?...he is breastfeeding well n loosing motion n urine on reguler basis.

Hi..I went through your query. I understand your concern.

It is normal for the yellowish discoloration of the eyes to stay there for 4-6 weeks. But it should not be increasing. You need not do a blood test again.

But I suggest you can take hm to his pediatrician to assess if it is increasing or decreasing. But if you feel 100% that the yellowish discoloration of the eyes is decreasing you need not go to a doctor as he is active and feeding and urinating well.
