Brief Answer:
Answer few queries & post the photos

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM..

Your 8 year old son has hypopigmented round patches on both cheeks. The patches are more visible in day light. And there is no other problem related to any system.

I would like to ask few questions..

- from how many days he has this problem?
- is it for the first time he has?
- any medicine taken by him?
- any cream applied?
- any skin lesions elsewhere?
- family history of any skin disease or any internal disease?
- past history of any skin skin disease or systemic disease?

Please answer above queries and do not forget to post the photos of affected parts of face of your son.

Thanks with best wishes..

Brief Answer:
Pityriasis XXXXXXX most probably

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome back..

Your uploaded photo is not recieved. Still, after reading history I feel that most probably your son may be having pityriasis XXXXXXX It is a common skin condition affecting children. There may be asymptomatic round to oval hypopigmented patches on face and trunk. It is a mild form of dermatitis. Exact cause is not known.

Do not worry as the disease is harmless. And it may remain for few months to few years. It might clear by itself. So,in some cases no treatment may be needed. However, if you feel embarassing, apply moisturiser cream might on patches..that might improve the appearance.

And also you may apply mild steroid cream or pimecrolimus cream on patches for few months, there may be good response. Recurrance may be there.

Also get him tested for nutritional deficiencies like iron deficiency and calcium deficiency.

I hope you got my answer.

Thanks.

Hi,

I got photo you posted. As I told you it is pityriasis XXXXXXX

I hope you got my answer.

It is a harmless condition. He might get benefit after applying moisturizing cream like elovera cream and tacrolimus ointment like tacroz 0.1% ointment. However, you may consult nearby dermatologist.

I feel you might be satisfied with my answers.

Thanks.
