What Causes White Patches Covering The Tongue?

default
Posted on Mon, 12 May 2014
Question: Hi, I am choosing the dentist option here as I dont know which specialty I should be contacting. Please help. my tongue is covered with white patches which are painless, they dont hurt me while eating or chewing. I have been noticing this since a month now, they come and go. When I clean the tongue with tongue cleaner it goes away but I see that there are things like hair on the tongue ( white color). I don't have ulcers or soreness. Its been 2 months now that I have my wisdom teeth problem, It bleeds ( not blood) from left wisdom teeth and its like everyday issue now since 2 months. I took some anti bacterial tablets like Zifi 200 and dolenex DT 20 mg. Feel better when on medication but it comes back when I stop. Tired of taking tablets. Any permanent solutions to stop the discharge from the teeth? It tastes very bad. I am also using Clohex Plus mouthwash 3 times a day. Another thing, the tongue color changes many times.. I feel its funny Bcos sometimes I its white hairy kind of and sometimes white hairy kind of and sometimes I feel that its dark pink :(. When I wash the tongue with tongue cleaner, whole day I feel the burning sensation on the toungue, especially when I drink hot tea or coffee otherwise it doest hurt but the burning sensation is there. feel relieved when I drink cold water. I am damn scared sometimes when I see something on google about this. Another prob is my teeth are not straight unfortunately so when I wake up in the morning, my teeth will have the signs of teeth mark on the edges of the tongue. Very often I see blood from my gums when I brush but no blood from mouth after the brushing. I can eat a super spicy food no problem with that but have this burning sensation on the tongue mostly in afternoons. Can you tell me is this something scary and I am left with very less time to live? I am 31 year old with a 1.5 months baby boy. I may not be able to tell all this to the doctor I visit so writing in details. Its very scary. Looking forward for an genuine answer, I hope and pray that i dont have any scary disease!

Brief Answer: Mesioangular Impaction , Chlorhex mouthwash Detailed Answer: Hello, XXXXXXX , Welcome Again to Healthcare magic . This is Dr. Priyanka tiwari answering your query. I have gone through your query and OPG x ray reports you have attached , your both Right and Left lower wisdom tooth is mesialy tilted what we call it is Mesioangular Impaction . As you have bleeding from lower left wisdom tooth in that you have Soft tissue Abscess as your wisdom tooth is Mesialy tilted ( mesioangular impaction ) which is causing pressure on 2nd molar and causing pain . What I will suggest you should consult Oral surgeon and go for Extraction of wisdom tooth you will get Releif after Extraction. As you are asking about mouthwash you can do Chlorhex mouthwash twice daily. Apply ointment Candid gel on tongue three times a day for 15 day . Hope I answered your query .
