Question: doc have started on regular walk and less intake of food,but i am still gaining weight. I do a night shift. I dont have any thyroid problems

I understand your problem very well.Shedding your extra weight is always a big problem.
The most important aspect of this problem is to exactly identify the cause behind it.
The most important causes for weight gain are....
Stress,lack of sleep,depression,skipping your breakfast,binge eating and binge dieting,use of certain medications like steroids,antidepressants,birth control pils,consuming more of junk foods,colas,sugar and deep fried foods etc and medical conditions like underactive thyroid,polycystic ovaries,Cushing syndrome etc.
Management lies in..
Getting yourself investigated for medical conditions
Sleeping well
Drinking plenty of water
Taking plenty of Fiber in food
Avoiding junk foods,sweets,deep fried foods,colas etc
Taking more of fresh fruits and green vegetables
Doing regular aerobic exercises for 45 minutes a day,atleast
Avoiding late night foods
Avoid eating at least 3 hours before going to bed.
In case you are not able to take care of your calorie intake,then taking service from some dietician.
Shedding weight is a slow and long drawn process and has to be done very religiously for a very long time to obtain a real outcome.
Make sure to stick to your exercises and diet control.
