What Causes Vomiting And Diarrhea Post A C-section Surgery?
Question: Hi there,
I had a C section 10 weeks ago. I have pain in my lower back, in my tummy muscles as well as where my scar is. This past week, I have had diarrhea as well as really sore breasts. I haven't had a period since about 3 weeks post partum and I am not sexually active. This is my 4th baby (the other 3 were vaginal births). I am 38. I am not breastfeeding.
I have just vomited. What could be causing this?
I have had a relapse of my postnatal depression and my psychiatrist has changed my medication from 50 mg of pristiq to 100 mg. I am still on the 100 mg and have been since 4 weeks post partum.

It sounds like gastroentritis since you had an episode of vomiting with diarrhoea.. You can take oral rehydration solutions and drink a lot of water especially rice water with a pinch of salt in it.. If diarrhoea doesnot subside you may need to take antibiotics or an IV fluid depending on the severity..
Some women will have aching tummy and scar pain till 3 months following caessarian.. Otherwise the pain can be following gastroentritis which will subside once diarrhoea stops..
Since you are not breast feeding the baby, the accumulation of milk can be the cause of sore breast.. Is the breast hard and tender? Then you need to take hot fomentation and express the milk out to prevent breast engorgement..
