Question: I have been having vibration Iike shocks in my left foot for over 24 hours now. I am very worried about what this could be. I have been told it could possibly be a vitamin deficiency but also I have been looking into it being tarsal tunnel syndrome. it does not hurt. it it is very annoying as it is constant. it last about 1 second and then happens again and again. I am very worried about this. how long before I should go to the doctor? will it go away on its own?

Brief Answer:
Please visit a neurologist if it persists.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

Though,I understand that this can be neuropathy or S1 radiculopathy, but it is too early to be confirmative for that.Anxiety can result in such manifestations as well.I suggest you to do mental relaxation exercises like meditation/yoga and take adequate rest.Even if then, the symptoms do not resolve in another 24-48 hours, then you should visit a neurologist.

You will then need 'Nerve conduction studies' in lower limbs to establish the diagnosis.A neurological physical examination should act as a guide to direct the investigations.MRI Lumbo-sacral spine may also be needed, depending on the examination findings.Diabetes,Vitamins deficiencies can also result in such symptoms.

If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to answer.

Regards
Dr.Ajay Panwar,
MD,DM(Neurology)
