What Causes Vaginal Bleeding Post Menopausal In An Elderly Woman?

default
Posted on Tue, 26 Apr 2016
Question: I am having some vaginal bleeding even though I had a complete hysterectomy 8 years ago. Also, I have had some bubbling "air" escaping from my vagina. Even though I never had cramping when during menstrual periods, I am feeling a little cramping now. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Can be a side effect of aspirin.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
In post menopausal age group, the vagina is comparatively drier and there is a tendency to bleed with a minor trauma. Aspirin further adds to the bleeding tendency. Now that you have stopped taking aspirin, it is best to self monitor for any further bleeding and in case the bleeding is seen after 7 days then you need to consult a gynecologist for detailed investigations. The mild cramping in abdomen could be due to gas and indigestion. Be careful to have a high fiber easy to digest diet.
