Posted on Sat, 4 Oct 2014
Question: Symptoms:Urethra burning always. Corona swollen slightly during all times. Test: HSV 1 IgG blood test positive. All other STD test negative.
In July 2012 I had unprotected oral and protected with CSW. Ever since there has been constant symptoms. Until Sep 2013 only symptom was constant foreskin burn & this burning area is pink (different skin color) compared to other area. This is the region of foreskin where urine / semen drips. After Sep 2013 until now there is constant burning feeling on tip of urethra. The severity has reduced I think. Urologist done DRE & said prostatitis. Different urologist said CPPS. Skin specialists said no STD. Will my symptoms reduce?

Brief Answer:
Yes, they can be reduced, though difficult to trea

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank You for consulting HealthcareMagic!

Based on the information given by you, I too think that it may be due to CPPS which can also be termed chronic prostatitis (may be non bacterial in your case if the tests are negative for bacteria). Frequency, urgency and pain during urination are common symptoms for this.

Will my symptoms reduce?
Yes, they can be reduced, though difficult to treat completely. But judicial use of anti-inflammatory drugs may be needed, outweighing the risks over benefits. You can discuss about these with your Urologist.

Brief Answer:
Mastrubation would be beneficial.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I can understand your concern. Symptoms won't last for lifetime but would come and go intermittently for long time. This condition is little difficult to get a permanent treatment at a specified time. But, symptoms can be surely decreased by proper management.

You can have sex. But, diagnosis should be confirmed and appropriate treatment should be taken to avoid transmission.

Mastrubation would be beneficial.

Please let me know how to get proper diagnosis to avoid infecting my wife. Urethra swab, urine culture, all STD test is negative including HIV, HSV 1, HSV 2, VDRL. Blood test shows HSV1 IgG positive. HSV 2 IgG negative. IgM for both negative. I had sores on lower lip. Skin doctor did not confirm as herpes sore but burnt them using laser. A year later I had pain in gums. Dentist confirmed as herpes. Please let me know list of additional test required.

Brief Answer:
HSV 1 IgG is not bothersome in you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

HSV 1 IgG is not bothersome in you. It suggests prior infection.

CPPS is a diagnosis of exclusion and there is no specific confirmatory diagnosis. If all common things are negative, then it is suspected. Do regular follow ups with your Urologist and it would be fine.

Thanks!

My prostate is 16gms as per ultrasound last year. In report it is saying to confirm by PR exam. Please let me know what is PR exam. This year I checked with different urologist and he felt that prostate was little sore and prescribed Tablet Afdura for 60 days. After the doctor felt the prostate the symptoms vanished for 1 day but later came back. Due to this can I assume it is not NGU but it is prostatitis. Please let me know if anything wrong with prostate why it's felt in the urethra.
