Question: I keep having upper back pain..feels like it radiates to chest at times..near esophagus area. This has been going on for 8 months now.. will last a few weeks and then feel better.. and then come back. when the pain is present.. its constant. I keep getting scared this has to do with my heart. Brief Answer:
I think it can be gastric problem

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have studied your case and you have done right thing by ruling out any heart problem. As it is most common cause of such pain and most serious also.
Now we have to think of other causes. Most common possibility is Gastric acidity. It is stress induced problem, can occur following pregnancy obesity or spicy fatty foods.
So to confirm the diagnosis I would suggest you to get endoscopy of oesophagus and stomach. With this we can directly see if there is any problem with mucosa.
I would also suggest you to avoid spicy food, take a proton pump inhibitor like lansoprazole after consulting with your doctor.
I hope this answer will be helpful. Let me know if you want to ask any other questions.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
I do not think it is heart related

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I do not think that it is heart issue as your all tests are normal. heart pain is more on left side and radiate on left shoulder, arm. I would suggest you to get endoscopy as soon as possible. Heart pain may remain for months though.
Thanks
