Question: I had graves disease hyperthyroidism 27 years ago. Never felt good after radioactiveiodine treatment. Am on synthroid. Levels are supposedlying correct

Sorry to note that you are not feeling right. Before I proceed to answer your question I would like to know if the typo in your statement means 'levels are supposedly correct '? In this case I woulsd like to assure you that if the TSH and free T4 are at goal then the Synthroid dose is fine. The targets are best decided by an endocrinologist after a thorough physical examination. But in general I aim for a TSH of around 1. However in select circumstances, more conservative targets can be used such as in the elderly or in those with heart problems or severe untreated osteoporosis
