Thank you for your time.

This started intermittently about two months ago. I would reach for my cell phone thinking it was vibrating and realized it was me. Three weeks agonist turned into nonstop buzzing in my lower groin maybe spine area.

It is really noticeable at night when it feels like it is firing off sensations everywhere and makes it difficult to rest. I an getting spasms tremors and trembling in my lower limbs and more twitches in my upper trunk. They are random. The buzzing feeling or tremor feels prominent in my legs.

I have never been to the ER and this made me go. They ran blood urine and X-rays of my abdomen and lower spine all came back normal.

The Dr thought it might be benign fasticulation syndrome.

I went to a neurologist today who had me do some basic physical tests like walk on tip toes. She also ran a nerve conduction test on my right leg and right arm. She said there is one nerve that has an issue possibly from scoliosis and did not think it was newly damaged. She said my nerve and muscles are within normal range. She said this meant there is s 90-95% chance it is not ALS.

I wondered if she should have done the left side as well?

She is sending me for more blood work to test for b vitamin deficiency and Lyme disease. She is also sending me for Mri of the brain.

This is all very scary and is not getting better. It is hard to work and rest with this going on.

I was given flexiril in the ER which did nothing. The only thing that brings some rest is taking an Ativan. It does not stop the sensations but at least makes my peaceful enough to get rest.

I have used Ativan occasionally for years for generalized Anxiety. I did wonder if this could be a benzo tolerance issue? I do not take the fully prescribed dose. I take .5 mg as needed sometimes during stress or to sleep when I have insomnia.

I also wondered if it could be hormone related like a low estrogen issue?

I am taking a multivitamin - vitamin d - fish oil - probiotics and just started magnesium last week.

I am so hopeful to find an answer as to what this might be so I can get resolution or understanding.

I am very worried it will progress into jerks and tics. I also wonder what damage it is doing to my body to constantly be firing off nerves and tremors?

Thank you for you time again. I look forward to hearing from you.
PS I realized I didn't answer your question completely - it has not affected my bowel or bladder. Only when I'm worked up about it.

I do not have true weakness but feel fatigued from the lack of rest I think. I may be fatigued from the constant action going on too.

I do not have problems going from sitting to standing. What on earth could this be? I hope I find an answer. Could a pinched nerve cause all of this?

Kind Regards, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Not a pinched nerve issue. Please upload the neurologist's sheet.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up and providing further details.

This is not a pinched nerve issue.I have absolutely no doubts regarding this.

As if now, this diffuse non-specific symptomatology, appears to be a manifestation of severely heightened anxiety levels.I was concerned of ALS as a possibility.

I need to see the examination sheet on which the treating neurologist recorded his findings. Please upload it as a scanned jpg document.

I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

I will have access to those records hopefully today. Do you think that the nerve conduction test on only one side being in normal range is sufficient to rule out ALS in the absence of weakness?
Ps my brain Mri came back in preliminary finding as normal. I am so thankful. This was only the preliminary result. My understanding was this is to rule out MS.

Brief Answer:
Physical examination is important for ALS diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

Physical examination is important for ALS diagnosis.Nerve conduction studies usually play a supportive role only.Electromyography,on the other hand is crucial.
However, whether to go for electrophysiology or not, depends on the initial physical examination as the exam. gives a good of prediction of the diagnosis.

Severe anxiety may be causing all this.If available, please upload your examination records.

I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.If you have no further questions, please close the thread, rate it and write a review.

Things have improved a little with the use of Lyrica prescribed by my primary doctor. The internal buzzing is still present but the twitches have reduced. I think a lot of it was extreme stress. However, the buzzing strikes me as being possible Benign fasciculation syndrome. Seems to fit everything I have read. I am following up with the neurologist tomorrow and just got my blood labs back. Tested negative for Lyme - the only remarkable thing is my neutrophils are 7.5 and my WBC is 9.4. Could this be due to stress or would that normally cause for a follow-up with the symptoms I have had?
PS The neurologist did do the EMG - she said there was one nerve that appeared damaged but believed it was from long ago due to scoliosis. The twitches I had were and are random and not localized.
Interesting development. We have my blood labs back and my B6 is over twice the upper limit. I see that B6 toxicity can cause the exact problems I am having. I also have excess B12 levels. Obviously, there is a problem somewhere with the elevated B levels. What would the next step logically be?

Brief Answer:
Are you taking vitamin B6 supplementation?

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

Of course, vitamin B6 toxicity can result in such symptoms. However, toxicity is not possible without high dose supplementation.Have you been on any B6 supplements?
If yes,the next step will be to stop them and observe for the response.
