Brief Answer: Possibly sensitive to the side-effects. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thank you for using Healthcare Magic. Metoprolol is a beta-blocker commonly used for the treatment of high blood pressure and heart failure. It causes a slowing of the heart rate. Frequent side-effects include fatigue, dizziness and drowsiness. The dose you are taking is the usual starting dose. However, some people are more sensitive than others. If your symptoms started at around the time you commenced metoprolol, it is likely that this is the cause. I suggest you consult your doctor to discuss changing your metoprolol to another beta-blocker. There are a number available. I hope this is of help to you. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Regards, Dr K A Pottinger, MBChB FRCA
