What Causes Tingling Sensation In Fingers And Pain In The Biceps?

default
Posted on Sat, 14 May 2016
Question: My left arm has been giving me problems since November.
One day I woke up and my bicep area felt bruised, but wasn't.
Then, my fingers became very tingly.
I have a lump in my elbow crease that bothers me when my elbow is bent.
My arm in my bicep area keeps randomly twitching throughout the day. Been going on for awhile.
I'm also 34 weeks pregnant.

Brief Answer:
Can be bursitis or tendonitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
During pregnancy mild tingling and numbness of the arms and fingers is normal due to swelling around the nerve sheaths. This will decrease after delivery. The lump in the elbow that you have can be due to bursitis, tendonitis or lipoma. It can cause compression of the nerve and inflammation causing the twitching and pain and weakness. This needs a direct examination by an orthopedician for diagnosis.
Taking anti inflammatory pain killers and methylcobalamin supplements can help you till then.
I hope this answers your query.

I'm just really worried about the twitching and weakness and pain in my shoulder. I've been going to physical therapy for a while, and it helps for the most part but the stiffness in my hands and arm weakness comes back. I also have a hard time gripping things, I feel very clumsy.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to nerve compression.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The twitching and weakness can be due to nerve compression at the level of cervical spine or shoulder - due to rotator cuff tendonitis. Doing a hot compress and methylcobalamin supplements will help. Do continue with the physiotherapy and consult an orthopedician for prescription medicines.
Hope my answer is helpful.
