Posted on Mon, 14 Sep 2015
Question: I have been experiencing a tingling sensation on my bunions on both feet after wearing too narrow shoes and walking around a lot about 2 weeks ago..very uncomfortable. .. Now I'm feeling the tingling all over my body. Not sure if I'm stressed or what is happening. I did consume alcohol yesterday and I have been known to have a tingling sensation when I'm stressed. What could this be?

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

Welcome to health care magic!

I am Dr. Saddiq Ul Abidin. I have read your problem in detail and will try to help you in best way possible.

Here are few things you need to do. Tingling can be due to peripheral neuropathy or may not be having any organic cause at all like in stress or anxiety.

You need to differentiate between the too. If it comes after long walk or narrow shoes, it shows an organic cause to it. So you need to get somethings worked up after meeting with your GP. You may be asked for fasting blood sugar, B12, folic acid and thyroid levels, and also since involvement of bunions raise possibility of raised uric acid so that also need to be ruled out. The generalised tingling might be sequelae of this. Even if it is stress, you need to rule out these causes first. Being young female, next on list to be ruled out should be autoimmune things with ANA levels in blood.

Try to wear soft, loose fit shoes. Preferably start folic acid and B complex supplements. You can have feet soaked in XXXXXXX warm water in the evening for a while. Using analgesics or gaba pentins may help. For stress and anxiety you need to bring diversities in life. Try to socialise more and hang out with friend. A sports or recreational activity may help. If such life style modifications fail to show results, than consult a psychologist to look deeper into it.

Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. kindly rate me before closing, and leave your feedback if possible.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ul abidin.
