What Causes Tingling And Numbness In Feet Despite Having Medicines For Diabetes?

Question: I am type 1 diabetic. About 1 month back, I had what seemed like a UTI - burning sensation and blood in urine. I took antibiotics and it mostly went away, with some days in between where there is slight discomfort (this is likely due to high blood sugar or dehydration). There was also a numbness that I noticed when I wiped after urinating. Now my feet and thighs are numb/tingling. Could the UTI and the tingling in my feet/thighs be connected? An STD maybe?

I know that the numbness/tingling in my feet could be nerve damage, for which I have already consulted a doctor's help on through this service. The fact that the UTI and feet/thigh numbness and tingling could be connected is a new thought. Please advise.

Noted your concern.
Tingling and numbness in your feet could be due to peripheral neuropathy. Any infection including UTI can worsen or exacerebate neuropathy and that would have happened in your case too. You need to meet an endocrinologist and intensify the diabetes control to avoid further damage to nerves
