Brief Answer:
An anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, local medical glycerine, direct exam.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Check in a mirror if there is any change in the appearance of the outside and inside of the lip. Also let me know if you have any other symptoms.

2. The most common causes include dryness, allergy (for example to a new toothpaste or foodstuff), herpes simples (cold sores), fungal infections, iron, vitamin and mineral deficiencies and so many other rare causes. Sometimes the cause is never known (idiopathic).

3. Try an anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory tablet, with local application of liquid glycerine (medical grade). If there is not relief , or if the lip looks different (such as an ulcer or rash) get a direct examination done.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

There isnt anything on my lips. My lips are very hot and they tingle. This has been going on for the last couple of weeks. I have been putting hydrocortisone and bacitracin cream on my lips and the burning still keeps coming back.

Brief Answer:
Get the lip examined.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. It is good if there is no sign of any ulcers or rash.

2. Heat implies some underlying inflammation. Hence follow the instructions above. Some causes such as deficiencies will take time to correct.

3. An OTC oral pain reliever gel with an anesthetic agent will help. Review the use of the current creams.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
